Partners In Education
There are four general level of involvement for partnership between schools and the community.
Direct Student Support - At this level, the partner provides goods and services to schools, for example: mentors: tutors, equipment speakers: tours: and awards. Over a period of time, as schools and partners interact with each other volunteers have the oportunity to learn about how schools work. The sense of trust that is developed between a school and it's. partner can become the basis for partnership activites that go beyond this basic level of involvement.
Programmatic Initiatives - The individual business, organization: or other partner works with its school partners to develop programs that target specific curriculum and or student and teacher needs. Programmatic concerns might include: career education: dropout prevention; attendance; student achievement technology skills of students and teachers; curriculum development, and parent involvement.Alliances/Compact/Other major Collaborative Efforts - Joint efforts between several businesses and/or community organizations and one or several schools districts designed to bring change requires initiatives in which a broad base of partners join together to achieve results focused on: changes in curriculum and institution; methods of assessment and evaluations; and major student outcomes.Policy Change - At this level, leaders from schools, businesses, and community organization work together to develop new policies: and legislative levels, lobby for legislative support for policy changes; and follow through on these efforts to ensure that policies are implemented.
